DIOR RECEIVES NATIONAL HONORS
DECEMBER 5, 2019 | NEW YORK, NY—
NEW YORK, NY – Recognizing projects that demonstrate innovation and good design, the 2019 AN Best of Design Awards jury selected Myefski's Christian Dior project as an honorable mention in the Retail + Mixed Use category. Myefski Architects worked in collaboration with the Christian Dior Architecture Department.
"The goal on this project was to not over design," said John Myefski, Principal and President of Myefski Architects. "It was wonderful to have a client appreciate that sometimes less is more.”
Transforming the 1950’s-era Walton Gardens building designed by Bertrand Goldberg into Maison Dior’s modern concept involved creating an incandescent facade that features a patterned frit/ceramic glazing. Show windows and lightboxes further balance the prominence of the historic Walton Gardens with Dior’s modern, French identity.
The project also received the Design Award of Honor from the Society of American Registered Architects (SARA) in November. The SARAs National Design Awards Program recognizes design excellence with award honorees spanning 15 states and six international locations.
