JUNE 4, 2019 | HENDERSON, NV —
Townsite Transformed, an architectural competition sponsored by the AIA Committee on Design (AIA COD), recently announced the winning submissions. The competition focused on challenging architects and aspiring architects to design a replacement for the Townsite Homes development in Henderson, Nevada. The original development has outlived its intended use and has fallen into disrepair, creating neighborhood blight. John Myefski, President + Principal of Myefski Architects and AIA COD Leadership Group member, was the Jury Chair for this year's contest.
"This competition really challenged participants to produce a comprehensive design that addresses modern housing standards," explained Myefski. "The top submissions demonstrated a holistic approach, where the townsite was re-envisioned through a broad master planning perspective as well as the design of specific architectural components."
