The Attic

The Attic

Chicago, IL

The Attic, a nightclub and event venue located on the second floor of the River North hotspot American Junkie, is housed in an industrial-chic space that features a retractable roof and street front façade that opens onto Illinois Street. Modern details pay tribute to the epitome of the ‘American experience’ by combining the rugged with the classy, and culminating in a back-lit wall emblazoned with the American flag that plays the role of the night club’s backdrop.

As an infill project, bringing natural light into the main spaces was our biggest challenge. To solve this issue, a retractable skylight was designed to bring light and fresh air into the nightclub. Glazing on the front façade is accented by a contemporary wood frame that gives passerby a pictured view of the club’s activities.

Multiple full service bars define the layout; a circular bar was designed to allow for maximum elbow room during shows on the club’s raised platform stage. The 140,000 mw sound system combined with stylish furnishings and lighting systems evoke an energy and ambiance conducive to the guest entertainment goals our client desired.
